Pommard 1er Cru Les Arvelets 2013
Soil and climate
Clay and limestone; on the surface, mixture of red clay and pebbles on limestone rocks. This vineyard is oriented due south with a steep slope. The heat is attenuated by the Nantoux valley, which tempers while bringing freshness.
Grape variety
Pinot noir fine type, qualitative rootstock 161-49.
Vineyard
Average age: 45 years, 10,000 plants / ha. Yield: 30 hl / ha
Viticulture
Environmentally friendly and sustainable
Vinification
Whole grapes sorted without SO2 with twice-daily punching down for 3.5 weeks. Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts without artificial thermoregulation. Malolactic fermentation in barrels.
Maturation
On lees; so-called ”reduction” aging without racking, with riddling without SO2 for 17 months.
Tastings
Elegant, rich and mineral wine. It is slightly spicy, fruity, with resin and licorice scents. A beautiful delicacy full of finesse!
